CWDA 2011 Symposium: Strengthening Families, Creating Economic Security,
Building Healthy Communities
October 5 – 6, 2011
Sacramento, CA
Following up on the insightful 2009 and 2010 Symposiums on Poverty, CWDA will be hosting a third symposium this fall, focusing on practices that build upon our ongoing policy discussion on the best ways to address poverty. The impacts and effects of poverty are now well-known and well-documented. The Great Recession and record unemployment rates in recent years have given new attention to the struggles of children, families and seniors plunged in poverty. This year's symposium will seek to explore on-the-ground strategies for strengthening families, including bringing economic security to their lives and building healthy communities around them. The challenge is this: what are we going to do – as a state and as a nation – to cut and eventually eliminate poverty? We hope you'll consider joining us in October in downtown Sacramento for CWDA's 2011 symposium.
