The County Welfare Directors Association (CWDA), Children Now, United Domestic Workers of America (UDW/AFSCME 3930), and the Service Employees International Union California (SEIU) are pleased to see new investments proposed in the area of emergency preparedness and response, including $400,000 in ongoing General Fund (GF) to develop strategies and resources to help older adults, individuals with disabilities, family care givers, and local partners prepare for and respond to state emergencies and natural disasters. However, direct support of specific human services programs and county human services agencies is critical to effective disaster and emergency response for already-vulnerable adults, children, and families. To that end, CWDA, Children Now, UDW/AFSCME 3930, and SEIU continue to request your support for $199 million GF annually, which includes funding for the following components:
