Location-Based Business Analytics:
Use of GIS to Improve Programs and Delivery of Service

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has embarked on new and innovative locational analytics using the Geographic Information System (GIS). GIS is proving to be a powerful tool in support of location-based data gathering, analysis, visualization and reporting.

CDSS has found GIS to be extremely useful in combining data on locations of its program clients with eligibility, poverty, demographic, etc. Using specific examples, this panel will demonstrate the utility of location-based evalution of program improvements in real time with added abilities to prioritize tasks and refine our actions to fit pressing needs on the ground.
