Staff

Alexis joins CWDA as a Legislative Advocate with experience supporting policy advocacy and legislative casework across state and federal government settings. In this role, she supports the research and advancement of legislation impacting county human services agencies and their programs.

Alexis began her work in Sacramento in the office of State Senator Nancy Skinner, where she staffed legislation, supported committee work including Revenue and Taxation, and served as a primary Capitol point of contact for constituent inquiries related to accessing social services. Most recently, she served as a Coalition Coordinator with SEIU’s Building the California Dream Alliance, supporting statewide legislative advocacy across income and food security, housing stability, childcare, and equity initiatives.

Alexis also served as a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Intern in the office of Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib in Washington, D.C. She supported legislative research and assisted in constituent casework including securing overdue Social Security benefits, facilitating access to healthcare, and connecting residents with legal and housing resources.

Alexis earned her bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies with a concentration in Criminology, from her hometown institution, San Jose State University.
